Books by James LLC was founded in May of 2023 by James MacNaughton, after he made the switch to full time business ownership. He had previously been working as an operations manager for a Fort Collins, CO based restoration company and prior to that, as an Investigator and Chief Deputy for Larimer County Coroner’s Office from 2010-2020. 

His career in bookkeeping began while performing the daily operations and financial management tasks required for a restoration company to succeed. Everything from running payroll, inspecting and estimating jobs, inventory, bank account management and receiving payments were part of his duties. His interest grew into a desire to become a certified bookkeeper in order to serve small to medium sized businesses locally and nationwide. 

James values a personal touch, clear communication and responsiveness as foundational characteristics to maintaining an exceptional client to bookkeeper relationship. As a business owner himself, James treats all clients as he would want to be treated. Outside of work, James loves to be in the mountains. Fishing, Hiking, and Snowboarding, are a few of his favorites. He also enjoys Golf, Soccer, Baseball, Disc Golf and Shooting Sports. 

“Our family loves to be active. When we have free time, we prefer to be outdoors. We are also very involved in local youth sports. Our 3 children currently play Baseball, Soccer, Basketball, and Football on local recreational and competitive teams.”
